Shutl and ebay

Four years ago, we set out to change ecommerce delivery. Our mission was, and still is today, a simple one – to give people what they want, when they want it.  It has been quite a journey so far with too many milestones to mention, however today I’m delighted to share with you the next and most significant one to date: eBay has agreed to acquire Shutl.

I have the utmost appreciation for the eBay team and am excited and honored for Shutl to be a part of their plans, starting today in Chicago. eBay’s bold vision to redefine local commerce is one that fits perfectly with what we have set out to achieve at Shutl. Approximately 75% of commerce happens within 15 miles of the consumer’s home. E-commerce is quick and convenient, two things that delivery is not. Together with eBay, we believe that we can transform this market and fulfil our mission.

eBay is a global commerce and payments leader. Its Marketplaces business is one of the world’s largest, connecting millions of active users globally. Beyond eBay Marketplaces, the eBay Inc. portfolio spans to include PayPal, eBay Enterprise, Magento and StubHub. Together, with the eBay Inc. portfolio, we have the ability to help define the future of shopping.

Bottom line: this is very far from the end of the road for Shutl. Rather this is a doorway to a much greater opportunity, one that we at Shutl can’t wait to start executing on.

Shutl will continue to serve our retail partners in the UK and the US. We will be speeding up our national and international roll-outs and increasing our investment in new product development. In short, we will be working harder than ever to make our service faster, better and more accessible for consumers around the world.

I would like to thank all those who made today and our future possible. Our team and carriers who have worked tirelessly these last four years, our board and investors who have backed us through thick and thin, our retail partners for taking a leap of faith, but most of all our loyal Shutlers whose custom and feedback we live for.

It’s been quite a journey so far. We could not be more excited for what lies ahead.
